Episode 202: Want to Feel More Energetic, Resilient and Full of Purpose?! Here’s How to THRIVE In Midlife!

Welcome, friends! I’m Dr. Edie Wadsworth, and today I’m excited to dive into three powerful tips that have the potential to change your life instantly.

These tips are simple, actionable, and have made a tremendous impact on my life over the past few years. Whether you’re a midlife mama navigating the doldrums or simply looking for ways to elevate your daily experience, these insights are for you.

1. Prioritize Protein and Avoid Sugar

Many women in midlife struggle with energy levels, sluggishness, and confusion about their metabolism. The truth is, it’s not about age; it’s about lifestyle. The main culprit behind these issues is often insulin resistance, not just a decline in estrogen or progesterone. Insulin, the hormone that helps regulate your blood sugar, can become out of balance due to poor diet and lack of exercise.

To start reversing this today, focus on two things: prioritize protein in your diet and avoid sugar. This simple shift signals to your body that it doesn’t need to keep insulin levels high, which helps balance your hormones and metabolism. Plus, getting outside for a walk, especially after meals, can lower insulin levels and give you an instant energy boost.

2. Take Charge of Your Emotions

As women, especially Southern women, we often worry about everyone else’s emotions, bending over backward to keep others happy. But this approach leaves us feeling drained and disconnected from our own needs. The key to emotional well-being is to stop outsourcing your emotions to others and take charge of your own.

Decide today that you are the one responsible for your emotional experience. By doing so, you free yourself from the expectations of others and create a life filled with joy and fulfillment. Remember, you get to decide how you want to feel and show up in your life, regardless of what others are doing.

3. Embrace Your Future

Many women in midlife fall into the trap of thinking their best days are behind them. But I’m here to tell you that your best days are ahead of you! It’s time to decide how you want to think about your future and what you want to create in this prime stage of life.

At 54, I’m living my best life, with more health, thriving relationships, and nourishing habits than ever before. I want the same for you. This is your time to invest in yourself, set goals, and create a life filled with joy and success.
