Episode 208: How to COMMIT to Your Goals to Find Passion, Purpose, and Meaning!

June 25, 2024

This week is extra special. It's Love is Magic week, and I couldn't be more excited! If you're attending the live event in Knoxville, Tennessee, prepare yourself for an incredible time filled with hugs, laughter, and connection. Whether we're line dancing on Friday night, hiking in the Smokies on Thursday, or sharing stories during our live broadcast of House of Joy on Saturday, I can't wait to spend this magical time with you.

Now, let's talk about the difference between wanting and committing. This idea hit me hard when I heard a talk by the wonderful Brenda Lamelli, a weight loss coach and mastermind colleague. She emphasized that wanting something is easy—it doesn't require much from us. But committing? That's where the magic happens.

When we say we want something, whether it's to find passion in our lives, improve our relationships, or achieve financial freedom, it's just a wish. There's no action behind it, no discomfort, no real effort. But when we commit, we put skin in the game. We take action, even when it's uncomfortable, and we keep going, no matter what obstacles come our way.

I was reminded of this during a recent coaching session. One of my clients expressed a deep desire to find her passion again, to reignite the fire in her life. I challenged her to replace "I want" with "I am committed to." Suddenly, the whole energy shifted. Instead of a passive wish, it became an active, powerful declaration.

Commitment requires perseverance, determination, and a willingness to push through challenges. It reminds me of our adoption journey with Tom—a process that took five long years. We had to be relentless, focused, and committed, showing up day after day, no matter how tough it got. And that's what it takes to see real transformation in any area of life.

So, I ask you, what have you been wanting in your life? And are you ready to make the shift from wanting to committing? Whether it's your health, your relationships, or your career, I encourage you to commit to it fully. Show up, take action, and keep going, even when it gets hard.

As we prepare for Love is Magic week, let's carry this mindset of commitment into everything we do. Whether you're joining us in Knoxville or following along from afar, I hope this message inspires you to commit to the life you truly desire. Because when we commit, that's when the magic really happens.

Thank you for being here, dear ones. I can't wait to see you, hug you, and share this incredible journey with you. Let's commit to making our lives as meaningful, beautiful, and joyful as possible.

With all my love and commitment, Dr. Edie Wadsworth
