Episode 222:  Do You Feel Satisfied & Refreshed at the End of Each Day?  Simplify Your Life by Simplifying Your Calendar!

September 10, 2024

Take a moment and ask yourself, Am I proud of how I spend my time? Does my calendar reflect what’s truly important to me? If that question feels uncomfortable or brings a little guilt, don’t worry! I’ve been there. For many years, I struggled with people-pleasing, always saying yes to everyone, which left me with a packed schedule and little time for what truly mattered.

If you resonate with that, you’re in the right place. Let’s simplify things today!

Start by reflecting on your daily and weekly routines. What’s filling your time that doesn’t align with your priorities? Where could you start saying “no” so you can start saying “yes” to what matters most?

I used to fill my days with errands and commitments, constantly on the go, but at the end of the day, I felt like I hadn't accomplished anything that truly mattered. When I began protecting my schedule fiercely, everything changed. I stopped saying yes to every lunch invite, every errand, and started spending more time at home, focusing on what’s truly life-giving to me!

Now, when I say yes to something, it feels special. When I do have a lunch date or take a trip, it feels like a treat because I’m not constantly filling my calendar with busy-ness.

Weekends used to be my time for running around, catching up on errands, and staying busy. Now, my weekends are mostly spent at home, resting, being creative, doing sourdough, and connecting with my family. That sense of calm and creativity has allowed me to accomplish more while feeling less busy. How ironic is that?

Even though we’ve had some busy weekends recently—like Emmy’s engagement party and an upcoming team retreat—I still make space for quiet weekends. And in that space, I find myself more productive and peaceful than ever before.

By simplifying my calendar, I’ve created time for things that matter to me. Every Friday is dedicated to my grandbabies! That time with them is priceless and life-giving. I also focus on nurturing relationships with the people who matter most to me—my kids, my husband, and my close friends.

Simplifying your schedule allows you to pour into those key relationships. Instead of spreading yourself thin with superficial connections, focus on those that truly bring you joy and fulfillment.

One tool that has been pivotal in this journey is my 90-day dream journal. This planner has changed my life. Every day, it helps me set intentions that align with my values and allows me to prioritize what truly matters. I even write down who I’m prioritizing for the week. This week, it’s my daughters, Emmy and Katie, because they both have birthdays. Making time for that connection is a key part of simplifying and organizing my life.

If you're struggling with time management or feel like your schedule is running you, I encourage you to check out my upcoming workshop: Design Your Life, Live Your Purpose. It’s happening at the end of September, and I promise you, it’s going to shift how you think about your time and purpose.

This workshop is for anyone who feels like they’re not living their best life. You know there’s more for you, but you’re stuck in the same routine. In this workshop, I’ll teach you how to ignite that passion and start living with intention. The best part? When you upgrade to the all-access pass, you get my 90-day dream journal shipped to you, which will help you set your life on a new trajectory.

For just $27, you get access to this three-day, high-energy workshop, plus the dream journal. I can’t wait to see you there. It’s time to start living your life on purpose, with passion, and as the best version of yourself. Head over to ediewadsworthcoaching.com/purpose to sign up.

As you go through your week, take time to reflect on how you’re spending your time. Are you proud of it? Does it reflect what matters most to you? If not, start making small shifts. Block time for the things that give you life, like exercise, reading, connecting with family, or simply being at home.

Your calendar is a reflection of your priorities. Make sure it aligns with your values, your goals, and the life you want to create. I hope this episode inspires you to take control of your time and create a life you truly love.

With all my love and grace,
Dr. Edie Wadsworth
